John Zink Company LLC Technology Selected for Major Ethylene Complex in China
Company will design, build and support the installation of China's largest ground flare system
TULSA, Okla., April 21, 2004 - The Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company, Ltd. (SECCO) and its contractor, AMEC, have selected ground flare technology developed by John Zink Company for its facility near Shanghai, China.
Zink's technology will be used for an emergency relief system, safely disposing of hydrocarbons while the flare performance remains essentially smokeless in order to maintain environmental integrity. With a capacity of more than 2,600 metric tons per hour, Zink's fence-enclosed ground flare will be the largest of its kind in the world, and the first flare of this type installed in China.

Zink engineers will use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling to design the ground flare system that will be installed at the SECCO facility mid-2004. The modeling will enable them to better understand the performance of the flare system in an actual operating environment, resulting in cleaner, more efficient combustion.
