Research and Development for the Next Generation
John Zink Company's International Research and Development Test Center,
located at our world headquarters in Tulsa, Okla., is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind in
the world. Here, exciting advancements in combustion technology are created, explored and exhaustively tested
in real-world simulations.
The Research and Development group brings diverse specializations to the discovery of the practical aspects
of combustion, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), chemical kinetics, spray atomization, combustion
diagnostics, heat transfer, furnace operation, and burner, flare and thermal oxidizer design and operation.
Because we've attracted an impressive assembly of engineers and scientists, our capabilities are among the
most extensive in the world. We invest heavily in state-of-the-art equipment and instrumentation to better
understand the performance of our systems and to develop the next generation of combustion technology.
Our Test Facility has become the preferred venue for end-users worldwide and keeps us at the forefront of
technological innovation. Using the many configurations of test furnaces, boiler systems, flare firing structures
and extensive utility supplies, Zink tests equipment under actual and simulated, industrial-scale conditions
to demonstrate system performance and to collect data that reflects real-life operation. Our office in Luxembourg
features another impressive test facility that complements our capabilities in Tulsa.
Five climate-controlled rooms in the Customer Center overlook the Tulsa-based Test Center. The rooms allow
customers to witness and discuss burner and flare demonstrations to ensure that the equipment meets the
guaranteed performance criteria, to review test results, and to meet with colleagues.
