Inspect tips for visible deformations and weld cracks. |

For grade mounted flares, check depth of gravel cover over distribution piping, if applicable. Depth should be at least 18 in., unless otherwise specified on job drawings. |

For elevated flares, check condition of radiation shields and shield brackets, if applicable. |

Check FFG. (Refer to Ignition checklists.) |

Check for indications of burnback in the distribution piping. Burnback conditions may be identified by unusual noises, smoke, red glow on piping (usually seen at night) or visible deformations. |
